KITCHEN MODIFICATIONS
- Mount or lower wall cabinets closer to the countertop and include pull out cutting boards, slide-out or roll-out shelves and baskets, and drawers with full extension glides.
- Install wheelchair accessible shallow sink, allowing open knee space underneath.
- Varying the counter height and installing a recessed area for stovetop and sink usage.
- Locate the wall oven and microwave to a user friendly height.
- Raise the dishwasher 6" to 8" off the floor.

BATHROOM MODIFICATIONS
- Roll-in showers or walk-in bathtubs for accessibility and safety.
- Grab bars.
- Relocate medicine cabinets for easy reach.
- Install an open-style vanity with clear knee space underneath for seated and/or wheelchair users.
- Install raised toilet.

MOBILITY
- Install smooth anti-skid flooring and/or low-nap carpeting with thin pad underneath.
- Ramps.
- Barrier-free entries: Replace sliding glass door with swing-open door and eliminate threshold. Install swing-clear hinges on interior doors to increase opening by 1 1/2". Increase width of doorframes. Install automatic door opener.
- Railings
- Lifts and elevators. Chair lifts.

ELECTRICAL / PLUMBING
- Install paddle switches throught.
- Relocate all switches and electrical outlets, thermostats. keypads, and intercoms 20" off floor and not more than 40" off flor so everyone can reach them.
- Ensure adequate lighting.
- Install timer devices to automatically turn lights on/off and outlets on/off.
FIRE SAFETY
- Ensure properly installed and working carbon and smoke detectors.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT
- Safe zones for Alzheimer sufferers.
- Alert systems.
